An old Africa hand, into and out of southern Africa for over 30 years, but was initially considering immigrating to Rhodesia in the early 1970’s. Banned from entering Zimbabwe and threatened by a ZANU politician whilst still in UK in 1980, although He was due to go on an academic visit. He has travelled and worked widely in most southern African countries as a consulting Engineer and academic.
His long term experiences in Africa have given a detailed insight into the problems of that wonderland region. His visits now are more to go animal watching (especially the big cats) and photograph them in their native habitat. A regular visiter to the Western Cape where he has gained many friends across the wide racial spectrum, whom he has questioned deeply for further insights for many years.
He lives for half the year just outside Cambridge, the remainder in Stellenbosch, where he is taking advantage of the local 147 wine farms to broaden his wine appreciation.
