Chicken wings are pretty popular as a dish in the United States of America. Theyre also referred to as buffalo wings at times. The right cooking method, the right marinade, and the right amount of crispness that brings out the best of the wings are all continuously debated by chicken-wing lovers. The origin of the dish is also debated just as much.
One of the popular theories surrounding the origin of chicken wings is Teressa Bellissimos preparation of frying the wings in hot oil to prepare a quick snack. Her son, Dominic, had shown up with unexpected guests, and she deep fried the wings and tossed them in some hot sauce. It was purely an experimental cooking achievement that turned out to be pretty genius later on.
John Young’s experimentation with chicken wings reserved for the stock is also cited by many as one of the origin theories of the iconic dish.
