After the upgraded relationship to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in
2013, China and Indonesia started to nurture people-to-people diplomacy through
various channels. However, instead of improving mutual understanding between
peoples from both countries, Chinas public diplomacy faced challenges in Indonesia.
This study aims to explain and investigate the logical reason for Chinas public diplomacy practices
in shaping a receptive environment among Indonesians.
