‘Freyinga saga’ (‘The Story of the Faroe Islanders’) does not survive in manuscript as a separate work, only in scattered passages in ‘lfs saga Tryggvasonar hin mesta’ and ‘lfs saga helga’ (in ‘Heimskringla’ and in the Separate saga). Some of the passages from ‘Freyinga saga’ in the ‘Flateyjarbk’ version of these two sagas, however, have a fuller text of ‘Freyinga saga’, and one probably closer than other manuscripts to the original saga, with fewer of the interpolations and alterations that are apparent in them. The conclusion of the saga is only found in ‘Flateyjarbk’.
