Berry demonstrates how an understanding of Phyrrhonian skeptical tradition can illuminate Nietzsche’s reflections on truth and knowledge – and ultimately, the nature and value of philosophic inquiry. Her novel reading of Nietzsche’s epistemological and ethical views clarifies his provocative but often opaque remarks on the topics of truth and knowledge, and provides further insight into his ethics. Berry’s reading also allows us to recover a portrait of Nietzsche as a philologist and philosophical psychologist that has been too often obscurred by commentaries on his thought.
