The manual is intended to teach students the basics of occupational safety, preventive measures against injuries and occupational diseases, poisoning, fires and explosions. Occupational safety is a system of statutory acts. It includes organizational, technical, socioeconomic, health-related, medical and preventive measures and means aimed at ensuring safety, preserving health and working capacity of a person in the course of his/her work activities. This manual proposes to examine the types of hazardous and harmful production factors at the workplace affecting human body, organizational measures and technical means that prevent or reduce the impact of harmful industrial factors on the workers. It also presents a system of organizational and engineering measures ensuring fire and explosion safety in production. Legal framework is presented to create healthy and safe work environment.
